Journalist

Liza N. Burby is an award-winning journalist who has been published in over 50 newspapers and magazines and numerous websites. As a result of her articles, she is a frequent guest speaker at events and conferences, and on radio and TV spots. Below are some of the media in which her work has appeared.

Photo: Liza N. Burby was recently recognized as a Reporter of the Year by the Press Club of Long Island (PCLI), the local professional chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. Liza was honored among hundreds of top journalists on Long Island on June 5. She won six awards, including second place for Reporter of the Year for her reporting in Newsday and Stony Brook magazine. The judges said of her articles: “excellent storyteller here while still using the necessary fundamentals of reporting. The stories were a pleasure to read.” She also won first place for an article published in AARP’s Bulletin and first place for an article in Newsday, and three other awards for the narrative arts, race and diversity and profile categories for Newsday.
