Resources

writer-corner-widget200New sources of information for writers are cropping up fast, and I’ll tell you which ones I recommend.

If you want to be a successful writer, you need to stay on top of what is happening in the book industry. That means knowing where agents and editors move to when they switch jobs and also which agents and editors are buying the type of book you hope to sell. One of the easiest ways to keep informed is to sign up for the free Publishers Lunch from Publisher’s Weekly magazine. It’s the industry's "daily essential read." And for a monthly fee, you can get the deluxe edition, which allows you to actually search an individual agent or editor to see what manuscripts they just bought. Check out this tmblr: http://www.yahighway.com As the description says, “it’s all about Young Adult literature, books, publishing, writing, fandom, book blogging, trends, controversies, and the occasional moose or sloth.” I say it’s just plain fun and informative.
